Inseparable from the start, Ashley Hamer and Ben Lythgo made their bond official in a picturesque outdoor ceremony.
Surrounded by a sea of greenery and native blooms, the elegant wedding was not only a coming together of two people, but also their friends and families.
After searching high and low for some flowers that suited her budget, it was a family friend that came to Ashley’s rescue, providing her with some stunning native flowers.
With the soft pinks of the king proteas complementing the bridesmaids’ burgundy dresses, Ashley said it ended up being the perfect match with the greenery and overall theme. “It all tied together really well,” she said.
Luck of the draw
Having trouble deciding on a date in April to have their wedding, Ben and Ashley let fate play a hand. Putting the date of each Saturday of the month in a hat, it was up to Ben to draw the wedding day out of the hat, ultimately setting their ceremony for April 21.
When picking a song to walk down the aisle to, Ashley and Ben picked a cover of Ed Sheeran’s Perfect that reminded Ashley of a special point in time.
“I remember a day sitting in the backyard on the grass and Ben was tuning his guitar and playing songs and I remember thinking at that stage that I was definitely falling for this person,” she said.
Two families become one
For Ashley, it was a piece of advice from a friend that ensured the night remained truly memorable and she was able to witness the coming together of two sides.
“They said ‘When you’re sitting at the bridal table, take the time to look around and just take it all in’,” Ashley said. “It was magical to see our two sides of the family all mingling together and out on the dance floor.”
