Mix of Australian and Italian tradition

The stunning Italian port city of Naples with Mt Vesuvius soaring skyward in the distance was the backdrop for the marriage of Federica Mancusi and William Trevaskis on September 30, 2015.

Italian-born Federica and Shepparton’s William Trevaskis met in Ireland on November 11, 2013 while both were working away from home. After returning to Australia and deciding to marry the couple planned a destination wedding in Federica’s beloved Naples.

With them living in the Goulburn Valley, much of the wedding planning was left to Federica’s parents, from the invitation cards to the bonbonniere. The impressive Basilica Reale di San Francesco di Paola was the venue for the traditional ceremony.

“It was a mix of Italian and Australian tradition. The ceremony was bilingual. Will was in charge of my bouquet and our witnesses were in charge of the wedding bands,” Federica said.

For the reception at Grand Hotel Parker’s, also in Naples, Federica added an emerald green waist sash, hair adornment and shoes to her white gown, which matched the ribbon on their four-tiered wedding cake.

Family and friends travelled from the Goulburn Valley for the celebrations in the romantic European city. Although the couple’s wedding celebrations were in Italy the groom bought his suit from Shepparton supplier Identity-Menswear.
